Investigators say the official promised to register the IMEI codes of 10 iPhones that had been brought into Uzbekistan through illegal channels by processing them using the passport details of other individuals.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 210 of Uzbekistan's Criminal Code, which covers bribery.
The investigation is ongoing.
