According to the Dunyo news agency, Muhammad Azam Malik, head of the Pakistani leather goods manufacturer, held talks with Nozimjon Kholmurodov, Director of Uzbekistan’s Light Industry Development Agency, during a visit with a business delegation.
The discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in the leather and footwear sector, implementing investment projects, and increasing export capacity. A key topic was the proposed creation of an industrial zone in the Akhangaran district specializing in leather goods production.
The project is expected to boost the output of high-value-added products manufactured in line with international standards. Officials said the launch of the industrial zone would help expand exports of leather products to the United States, Europe, and other major markets.
Participants in the meeting said the project would also create jobs, strengthen the competitiveness of Uzbekistan’s leather and footwear industry, and promote cooperation between local manufacturers. The two sides also discussed introducing innovative production technologies, expanding the range of export-oriented products, and increasing access to global markets.
