Citizens invited to vote for naming elevated metro stations

According to the press service of the city administration, from December 5 to December 11, 2022, at the initiative of the Transport Ministry, the Department of Digital Development under the Tashkent city administration on the website geonom.tashkent.uz collected proposals for naming 19 stations of the “Dustlik-Kuylyuk” and “Almazar-Sergeli” lines of the elevated metro stations.
A working group under the Ministry of Transport, which included scientists, historians, philologists, toponymists and other specialized experts, as well as media representatives, bloggers, based on the requirements of the Law “On the Names of Geographical Objects” and in accordance with the accepted rules for writing toponyms in the state language, selected from the proposals received three most suitable names for each station.
In order to study the opinion of local residents in the process of preparing proposals, the Tashkent city administration invites citizens of Uzbekistan to take part in this process by voting.
Voting will last from 4 to 18 April this year.
The results of the voting on the names of metro stations will be provided to the Ministry of Transport for the preparation of relevant proposals and their subsequent submission to the Cabinet of Ministers for a decision.
