The Russian group FESCO organized intermodal transportation of containerized cargo from Japan to Uzbekistan, Spot reports with reference to the company’s press service.
The main cargo for the FESCO Trans China Railway service will be Japanese components for cars. The route starts from the port of Yokohama. From there cargoes are sent by sea to Chinese Lianyungang, where the Kazakh-Chinese logistics terminal is located.
Then they are loaded onto platforms and sent by rail to the Kazakh border. At the Khorgos-Altynkol crossing, containers are reloaded onto platforms for 1,520 mm gauge, then proceed to the Chukursay station in Tashkent.
Shipments will be sent twice a month. The first batch of 18 containers is already in Lianyungang and awaiting train departure on September 30.
The new service will allow FESCO to develop alternative container delivery routes through Chinese ports. In addition, the logistics group expects to increase its presence in Central Asia, its new strategic direction.
